Shari joined StreetWise Partners in August 2015. With a Master's Degree in Social Work from Columbia University, Shari dedicated her early career to tackling issues related to mental illness, domestic violence and foster care. She spent the next 11 years at Catholic Big Sisters and Big Brothers where she held positions of Program Director, Development Director and Managing Director. Shari served as an Adjunct Professor at New York University, where she shared her expertise and worked to inspire others to join the non-profit space. More recently, as Executive Director for Grace Institute, Shari led the transformation of a century old organization into a market leader in workforce development. During Shari's tenure, Grace Institute was honored by the Clinton Global Initiative for its significant contributions towards financial security and job development for women. Shari also serves on the board of New York City's Education and Training Coalition and lives on Long Island where she is outnumbered by her husband and two sons.
Ishi Sahni, Development Director
Ishi Sahni joined StreetWise Partners as the Development Director in April 2016. Previously, Ishi was the Director of Development at GrowNYC, a 45 year-old environmental non-profit that provides free resources and tools to all New Yorkers to improve their quality of life and the environment. In this role, Ishi was responsible for fundraising for all of GrowNYC’s programs, including its newest initiative—Project Farmhouse: an education and sustainability center coming near Union Square.. Ishi’s background shows a long history of development work, including the Correctional Association of New York, a 170 years old prison-reform organization, where she led their very first Major Gifts Campaign and executed special events and their annual gala. Her experience includes individual giving, grant writing, corporate sponsorship's, advocacy campaigns, capital campaigns and special events.
Rachel Baron joined StreetWise Partners in February 2016 as the Development Assistant. She assists with donor cultivation, fundraising, and communications. Prior to joining Streetwise Partners, she worked as a technical recruiter at a staffing agency on Wall Street. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Haverford College and has served as a communications intern at the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Rachel is excited to continue her work in nonprofit communications and development at StreetWise Partners.
Lauren Silberstein, Program Director
Lauren Silberstein joined StreetWise Partners in November 2015 and oversees all aspects of programming in both the NY and DC regions. She is a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), receiving her Masters degree in Social Work from Columbia University in 2004. Prior to StreetWise Partners, Lauren served as Director of Support Services at Grace Institute, a workforce development organization for women where she worked for 7 years. Overall, she has 11 years of management and program development experience working in organizations that serve disadvantaged communities, both at Grace Institute and Safe Horizon. Lauren lives on Long Island with her husband and three daughters.
Brandon Kelly, Program Coordinator (NYC)
Brandon Kelly joined StreetWise Partners in May 2015. He manages the Deutsche Bank and PwC Career Ventures programs, as well as volunteer relations and recruitment for all programs in New York City. Prior to joining StreetWise Partners, he interned with City Atlas, where he contributed his research skills and writing expertise toward building the NYC-based sustainability platform. Brandon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Geography from Syracuse University, and is a Master’s candidate in the Department of Geography at CUNY Hunter College. During three of his summers at Syracuse, he served as an assistant at the Office of Learning Communities, where he helped place peers into the university’s living-learning communities. Brandon is passionate about assisting people from underserved communities and helping volunteers have an enjoyable, meaningful experience.
Nelsy Sanchez, Program Coordinator (NYC)
Nelsy Sanchez joined StreetWise Partners in July 2016. As a recent graduate, Nelsy obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration and Marketing from Bernard Baruch College. Prior to StreetWise Partners, she studied in Europe with a focus on International Affairs and Policy, where she received direct experience with helping refugees get resources to handle political turmoil. She manages the Barclays and Marsh & McLennan Companies Career Ventures programs, as well as trainees’ relations and recruitment for all programs in New York City. Nelsy also works to build successful relationships with Community Partners in the NYC area. Nelsy is passionate about helping others realize their full personal and professional potential through life-changing experiences such as that of StreetWise Partners.
Emily Starace, Senior Program Coordinator (DC)
Emily Starace joined StreetWise Partners in January 2015. She managed volunteer recruitment and two programs in NY, and then moved to the Washington, DC region in January 2016 to manage intake and logistics for the White & Case and Gallup programs. Currently, Emily oversees the Gallup program, volunteer Program Board, trainee recruitment, and works to build successful relationships with DC Community Partners. Before StreetWise Partners, Emily taught German and English in Germany through a Fulbright Grant, and she received a BA from Haverford College in linguistics and German. She has a background in and passion for serving immigrants and refugees, and is enthusiastic about continuing to help people fulfill their potential at StreetWise Partners.
Jasmine Schmidt, Program Coordinator (DC)
Jasmine Schmidt joined StreetWise Partners in August 2016. She manages the White & Case Program in addition to volunteer recruitment, the Junior Board and volunteer relations for both programs in the DC region. Prior to StreetWise Partners, she interned in Spain for Accem, where she conducted various job training programs for refugees, aided in housing resettlement and provided assistance to the organization’s human rights attorney. Jasmine holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a Spanish minor from the University of Texas at Arlington. She enjoys traveling to new places, photography and trying different foods. Jasmine is passionate about helping others and making volunteers’ time at StreetWise Partners a memorable one.
Kamaria Gregory, Program Assistant
Kamaria Gregory joined StreetWise Partners in July 2016. Prior to joining StreetWise Partners, she was an intern at the Human Resources Administration (HRA); the largest social services agency in the country which administers major public assistance programs dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality. She interned in the Office of the Chief Program Officer where she assisted in creating and updating HRA policies and procedures, as well as analyzing the success of their Back to Work program. Kamaria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Vassar College. While at Vassar, she interned at Dutchess Outreach performing intake for their Emergency Assistance Program which provided monetary assistance for rent, utilities, and medication to low-income individuals in Poughkeepsie. She is excited to continue working in the nonprofit field and supporting people from underserved communities.
