Zukhra’s Story

My name is Zukhra Yunusova. I live in New York but am originally from Uzbekistan.

I heard about StreetWise Partners from a friend. He saw me struggling with finding myself and said StreetWise would help me navigate my goals and future opportunities.

I first joined StreetWise in the Fall of 2018. I wasn’t able to complete the program then so I rejoined in the Summer of 2019.

I can’t say enough about how awesome the program was! I got to meet my mentor, Qasim, who is still helping me to this day. From the very first time I met him, he was sincere and helpful. He tried to help as many mentees as he could. When I was struggling to complete the program he offered his guidance every step of the way.

I learned a lot in the StreetWise Partners program. Before joining Streetwise, I thought that everything would be easy. You graduate from college and then you find a job, instantly, because you have a diploma, you have a degree. But I was completely wrong. The finance industry is very competitive. StreetWise taught me interviewing skills, resume writing skills, how to search for a job, how to navigate online resources, and how to network. As an introvert, networking was always something I had difficulty with but turned out to be the most important skill I learned. StreetWise helped me get comfortable with reaching out and meeting new people.

I’m currently employed with Fitch Ratings as a Credit Analyst.

StreetWise played a huge role in me getting this opportunity. I signed up for Employment Services, a brand new program at StreetWise Partners. An email came through, I was looking at the opportunities when I saw there were some available positions at Fitch. When I applied to one of them, a recruiter reached out to me and asked if I was interested in the Credit Analyst role, I definitely was. With all the training and practice at StreetWise, my interview went well and I got the job and am loving it.

In 5 years I want to become an expert in my current role and see myself eventually transitioning into Equity Capital Markets. I know StreetWise will continue to play a part in my career development.

To someone thinking about joining StreetWise Partners: just go for it! You will not regret it. It’s totally worth your time and it’s absolutely free which was a huge advantage in my case.
